Framestore - we pride ourselves on creating characters that not only resonate with audiences but also stand convincingly alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest talents. While typical blockbusters might feature a handful of animated characters, IF took it to a whole new level, boasting a cast of over 42 Imaginary Friends, each with their unique stories and features.

Framestore's VFX Supervisor, Chris Lawrence, and Animation Supervisor Arslan Elver served as the Production VFX Supervisor and Production Animation Director on John Krasinksi's IF, playing a pivotal role throughout the entire filmmaking journey.

From initial storyboarding and character design to previs, on-set supervision, postvis, and the final delivery of shots, Framestore's involvement was extensive and integral. This all-encompassing participation leveraged the strengths of Framestore's Pre-Production Services (FPS), VisDev Department, Design, and VFX teams spread across London, Montreal, and Mumbai. IF represents an audacious fusion of live-action and tactile, stylised animation, with Framestore taking the lead as both the primary creative partner and sole VFX provider. It was critical for our team to provide John Krasinski with the necessary tools and flexibility to iterate throughout the project, allowing him to fully realise his vision.
