Guardians Of The Tomb Vfx Breakdown
Cutting Edge completed 298 VFX shots for the action-horror creature feature, Guardians of the Tomb.
Based on the premise of an ancient discovery of a mummified Emperor from 200 B.C. China, Guardians of the Tomb unearths a two-thousand-year-old nightmare, involving a secret that should have remained buried.
Highlights of our VFX shots include the creation of CG Spiders, FX animation, makeup enhancements, set extensions and the opening titles sequence. Cutting Edge was called upon to heighten the horror and bring terrifying CG creatures to life. To create lively CG shots, arachnids were manufactured through creature design, modelling, texturing and shading, and rigging techniques with keyframe animation applied to create a swarm animation for spider clusters in multiple shots. Complementing intensified spider clusters, Cutting Edge supplied fluid animation of lava and goop, additionally compositing CG fire and explosions to exacerbate the action sequences.
